Heat recovery increases the efficiency of heating systems. The demand for these solutions is rising accordingly. But what can you do in halls without hot water customers? Our Research & Development division has developed a new system for this: O.P.U.S. Air – the air-to-air heat exchanger from KÜBLER.

RESIDUAL HEAT FOR LOW HALLS

Developed for halls without hot water consumption points: O.P.U.S. Air. This heat exchanger generates warm air. Can be used, for example, to heat low hall areas.

EXTREMELY COMPACT AND VERY EFFICIENT

Technically, heat recovery is achieved with this condensing technology from KÜBLER using the countercurrent process. Or with plate heat exchangers in cross-flow process. Depending on the performance class. The compact design provides significantly higher heat transfer surfaces than conventional tube-in-tube solutions. And thus very high firing efficiency. Depending on the system configuration, up to well over 100 %.

RESIDUAL HEAT HEATS AT VIRTUALLY NO COST

The use of residual heat for infrared heating: A quantum leap in space heating technology. Since the development of O.P.U.S. X, it has been possible to use the residual energy in the exhaust gases of infrared systems economically. For example, for the hot water-based heating of offices. Or with the air-to-air heat exchanger O.P.U.S. Air in halls without hot water consumption points.

O.P.U.S. X is the heat exchanger system for infrared heating. And a technological highlight. After all, the use of residual heat in infrared heating systems (radiant tube heater) has so far only been economically feasible in exceptional cases. With the development of O.P.U.S. X, the breakthrough has been achieved.

UP TO 15 % EXTRA ENERGY: THE PLUS FROM KÜBLER

The KÜBLER heat exchanger system enables the economical use of energy that was previously largely lost
to the environment in the exhaust gas of hall heating systems. Up to 15% additional energy can be recovered in this way. Can be used, for example, for heating offices and social rooms. Or also for hot service water. Virtually free of charge.

By the way: O.P.U.S. X is economically interesting not only for new installations. KÜBLER’s residual heat can be integrated into existing infrared heating systems as required.

THE FUNCTIONAL PRINCIPLE

O.P.U.S. X extracts the energy contained in the exhaust gas from infrared heaters (radiant tube heater) and transfers it to a storage medium. Usually to water. This hot water is stored in a buffer tank. As a standard application, the energy is then fed into the heating circuit return of a pump hot water heating system via a controller as required. In this way, the recovered energy can be used to heat offices or social rooms. Or for the provision of service water. Other possible applications include (fresh) air preheating.

H.Y.B.R.I.D. uses the residual heat from space heating systems. Up to 15 % extra energy can be recovered in this way. For example for the hot water-based heating of adjoining office buildings. Or for hot service water. Almost without additional costs. The efficiency in the overall system increases to a firing efficiency of up to 108 %.

108 PERCENT. HOW TO ACHIEVE SO MUCH?

The answer: The highly efficient H.Y.B.R.I.D. system from KÜBLER. With our MAXIMA high-end infrared units, up to 80 % of the energy used from the fuel (based on the calorific value, Hi) is already transferred directly to the work area as infrared heat. From the energy still remaining in the exhaust gas, up to a further 15 % energy for office heating, service water, hot air for other zones and many other applications is made available by means of an exhaust gas/water heat exchanger system. This also contains large amounts of hidden energy (latent energy) in the form of water vapour bound in the exhaust gas due to the condensing technology.
This intelligent overall system, together with the direct waste heat from the overall system (approx. 13 % convection heat), makes it possible to keep up to 108 % (80 % IR + 15 % hot water + 13 % convection heat) of the fuel energy fed into the building envelope. 95 % of the energy (80 % IR + 15 % hot water) is directed directly to where it is really needed. Into the work area.

By the way: Thanks to our intelligent control and regulation system CELESTRA, energy savings of 20 % are already possible “a priori” without any gas particles passing through the pipe.

H.Y.B.R.I.D. integrates infrared heatingresidual heat utilisation, digital control. And offers a multitude of other combination possibilities. The combination of solar thermal modules and heat pumps, for example. Or the integration of residual heat from production processes through to the combination of heat flows from different production areas.

H.Y.B.R.I.D. makes its mark. KÜBLER’s innovation has received two awards. For sustainable entrepreneurship and the special energy efficiency of the intelligent space heating system. With the Rhineland-Palatinate “Innovation Award”. And with “The German Sustainability Award”. As winner in the category “Germany’s most sustainable product”.

THE GERMAN SUSTAINABILITY AWARD

Since 2008, the German Sustainability Award has been presented by the “Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V.” in partnership with the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) and the German Federal Government and has developed into one of the most prestigious awards of its kind in Europe. It honours local authorities, research institutions and companies whose services, products and services are particularly successful in meeting ecological and social challenges. And thus use sustainability as an economic opportunity. The award for the most sustainable product went to KÜBLER in 2012.

THE INNOVATION AWARD RHINELAND PALATINATE

For the second time, KÜBLER is awarded the coveted innovation prize of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. 2012 for its innovative H.Y.B.R.I.D. space heating system. With the state’s Innovation Award, the Ministry of Economics, Climate Protection, Energy and State Planning, together with the working groups, honours the Rhineland-Palatinate Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the Chambers of Skilled Crafts for particularly innovative companies. “The Rhineland-Palatinate Innovation Prize” has already been awarded for the 25th time and is thus one of the oldest innovation prizes in Germany.
