Energy flexibility as a driver of transformation
„Many people are unaware of the risks that businesses take when they rely solely on grid power.“
Thomas Kübler is a specialist in heating industrial buildings—which account for around 2% of buildings in Germany but are responsible for around 15% of building-specific emissions. They are used for industrial manufacturing processes, logistics, sports, events, and much more. Some are several thousand square meters in size and 20 meters high. In winter, such areas can consume as much energy as a small town.
Kübler develops heating systems that reduce this energy consumption by 50 to 70 percent. His company is considered a leader in technology and innovation and has received numerous awards.
„We need heating technologies that are as efficient as possible, but that can also be used flexibly in terms of energy. Without this capability, i.e., without being able to switch back and forth between different energy sources, there will be no operational reliability in view of volatile renewable energies and limited grid capacities,“ Kübler is convinced.
At the invitation of Dr. Michael Garmer, the entrepreneur will discuss questions regarding the political framework for innovation in Germany at the Innovation Business Day. Joining him on the panel „Shaping the Future – Innovation as a Driver of Sustainable Transformation“ are @Vanessa Zobel, Member of the German Bundestag, @Till Bußmann (Duesenfeld GmbH), @Stephan Wrage (SkySails Power GmbH), and Dr. @Tobias Bischof-Niemz (Enertrag SE). The discussion will be moderated by Dr. @Marc Lakner (A. T. Kearney GmbH).
The theme of the 2025 Innovation Business Day is „Innovation as a driver of growth, competition, and digital sovereignty.“ Following the great success of last year's event, which attracted over 1,000 guests on site and around 12,000 digital participants, the Economic Council of the CDU e. V., led by @Astrid Hamker (President) and @Wolfgang Steiger (Secretary General), is once again providing strong impetus for economic sustainability, international competitiveness, and technological leadership.
