New GMG cornerstones: Effects on industrial and logistics halls
The key points of the new Building Modernization Act (GMG) mark a political course correction compared to the GEG 2024. The coalition is thus responding to persistent criticism and creating new framework conditions that have been eagerly awaited, especially in residential construction. But what are the consequences for production and logistics halls in an industrial environment?
Thomas Kübler, who specializes in energy-efficient hall heating systems, analyses the key points and shows what options are open to operators.
CORNERSTONE 5 INDUSTRY & COMMERCE:
These sectors are likely to be exempt from the quota regulations for energy sources. A final legal review remains reserved. This will continue to enable tailor-made solutions for hall heating systems, as the climate targets will be maintained.
EXPERT OPINION:
„The sustainable interventions at a political level will probably be recognizable here. Both the responsible head of department at the BMWK, Ms von Ahlefeldt, and the rapporteurs Helmut Kleebank (SPD) and Lars Rohwer (CDU) have signaled that the specific requirements of halls have now been recognized and will be considered independently in the future.“
CONCLUSIONS:
The regulatory framework is in place. Anyone who waits now risks rising project costs as a result of growing demand and increasing capacity utilization in the market. At the same time, competition for implementation resources is intensifying. Hall operators therefore currently have a strategically favorable investment window, as the GMG cornerstones have created planning security and technological alternatives can be reassessed.
