Sports halls have high ceilings and varying occupancy times. Traditional warm air systems quickly lose efficiency in this environment: the warm air rises to the ceiling, where most of the energy is wasted as heat buildup. Underfloor heating and radiant ceiling panels are hydraulic systems and therefore correspondingly slow to respond. When the space is not in use, the heating cannot simply be switched off and on again, because this would require a long warm-up time.

Radiant heat works differently. It takes effect immediately and only directly in the lower area of the hall where people are located or on the hall floor.
