Democratic, sustainable, innovative was the motto of "Shaping AI". Organized by Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, today's event in the Paul-Löbe-Haus, the "machine room of democracy", set itself ambitious goals. The aim was to examine the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence from all angles.
In the forum "With AI for a strong SME and start-up landscape", Thomas Kübler focuses on the area of heat supply for large halls, "buildings that generally do not correspond to the reality of most people's lives and therefore often fall out of focus", says Kübler.

This building sector is highly relevant for the energy transition, as it is responsible for around 15 % of the total building heating demand, "... or could be avoided with innovative, energy-flexible heating technology and AI". However, this requires laws and standards that are up to date and not stuck at the technological level of 2011. Otherwise, innovations in the field of AI, which are of great benefit to the energy transition, would be developed "for the drawer". Nevertheless, Thomas Kübler says: "We had to establish innovative hall heating technology back in 1989, bypassing old standards. But today we no longer have the time. Climate change needs these innovations now. Politicians have a duty to proactively develop them."

Today, hall heating systems for the energy transition are highly efficient and energy-flexible. This means that they can be operated variably with different renewable energies such as PV electricity or hydrogen and can compensate for the volatility of these energies with traditional (including biogenic) gases. Kübler: "AI will play a major role in this area in order to adapt energy requirements even more specifically to user behavior, weather conditions and availability."
